Kimi K2.8 Preview is Moonshot AI's mid-tier coding and agentic model, positioned between the flagship Kimi K3 and Kimi K2.7 Code. Moonshot describes its coding and agent performance as close to K3 with significantly more efficient thinking than K2.7 Code. It supports a 1M-token context window, image and video input, adjustable thinking effort (low / high / max, default max) plus a non-thinking mode, and is served through Kimi Code under the kimi-for-coding model ID and in the Kimi app. Weights, benchmark scores, and per-token API pricing had not been published at launch.
